July 5, 2011

Dear ACSA Region 14 Colleagues;

I am honored and humbled to have been chosen the President of Region XIV for the 2011-12 year.  I pledge
to do my very best to make this your region of your professional organization.

My them this year is "Semper-Fi, Hoo-Ra!  We sre Warriors for Public Education" and I chose it because, just
like the US Marines, I believe we are in a battle:  the battle for public education- and not just survival, but
to regain "lost ground" and to grow in depth and breadth, ensuring the best possible education for ALL
students.  I am proud to call myself a California Public School Administrator, knowing I am joined with all
of you dedicated professionals - classified and certificated- whose primary goal is a combination of excellence
and equity for all students, even in these dire financial times.

This year, Region XIV's goals are:

  • Promote the Mission of State ACSA
  • Support our Members
  • Educate our legislators and our communities
  • Keep our Region fiscally strong

I encourage all of you to become involved, even in these stressful times, for we are our own best support
system, mentors, coaches, sounding boards, and yes, at times, a shoulder to cry on.  By linking arms we
gather strength and courage, desperately needed in these troubled times.  We are looking for opportunities
to serve you with mentoring, speakers on timely issues, and as close to "real time" communications as we
can get.

As your President, I want to hear from you regarding your questions, concerns, and ideas.  I hope to meet
each of you, personally, at our region events so when you arrive, please introduce yourself to me.  The
Executive Board is working hard to provide events that meet your needs, are easy to get to, and are definitely
affordable.  Come join us!

Your Respectful Colleague

Christine VanderLeest
